The invention relates to foam compositions containing alcohol that are used for disinfection purposes, in particular pumped foam formulations containing the following components: a) at least 52 to ≤ 99 wt. %, in relation to the total quantity of the foam composition, of an alcohol or a mixture of alcohols, b) a surfactant or a surfactant mixture c) at least one polyalkylene glycol, d) optionally at least one foam stabilising agent, in addition to e) optionally other cosmetic auxiliary agents, additives and/or active ingredients and/or water. The surface tension of component (b) lies within ± 15 dyn/cm of the surface tension of component (a) or corresponds to the surface tension of component (a) and the sum of components (a) to (f) totals 100 wt. %, in relation to the total quantity of the foam composition. The invention also relates to the use of said compositions as disinfectants.
