PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general-purpose combine harvester, in which the operation of selective automatic-control means is regulated, when crops such as vulnerable soy beans are harvested, to prevent the damages of the crops, which might otherwise be caused either by the opening and closing of fins or by the increase in the second reduction, and in which highly accurate selections are performed by operating the selective automatic-control means when scratchable crops such as rice or cereal are harvested.SOLUTION: A general-purpose combine harvester 1 capable of harvesting a plurality of kinds of crops comprises: a chaff sheave 31 for sheaving an object to be selected selected substance quantity detecting means for detecting the quantity of a substance selected and selective automatic-control means for changing the fin opening of the chaff sheave 31 automatically in accordance with the quantity of the selected substance detected.
