The present invention provides a method for producing a BiVO4-carrying titanium oxide capable of exhibiting excellent antiviral activity in a bright place without the presence of ultraviolet light. The BiVO4-carrying titanium oxide of this invention is produced by using a pulverizer to treat an acidic suspension containing titanium oxide, bismuth ions, vanadate ions, and a solvent to produce the BiVO4-carrying titanium oxide. The antiviral composition of this invention contains a BiVO4-carrying titanium oxide produced by the production method of this invention and a divalent copper compound. For 100 parts by mass of BiVO4-carrying titanium oxide, the copper element of the divalent copper compound has a conversion mass of 0.1 to 20 parts by mass.本發明為提供在無紫外光的明亮處可表現極優良抗病毒活性之載持BiVO4的氧化鈦之製造方法等。本發明之載持BiVO4的氧化鈦之製造方法為藉由將含有氧化鈦、鉍離子、釩酸離子、及溶劑之酸性懸浮液以粉碎機進行處理,製造出載持BiVO4的氧化鈦。本發明之抗病毒性組成物為藉由本發明之製造方法所製造的含有載持BiVO4的氧化鈦及2價銅化合物,對於載持BiVO4的氧化鈦100質量份而言,2價銅化合物的銅元素換算質量為0.1~20質量份。
