The present invention relates to imaging of a human or animal heart, in particular imaging of heart motion. The invention can also be used for functional and shape imaging in a wide range of research, medical, veterinary, and industrial fields. In particular, the present invention provides a method and apparatus for imaging the heart under examination. The method comprises reconstructing at least one in-vivo image in one or more regions of the lung to be examined (1) and applying the at least one in-vivo image to a 2D or 3D heart model ( 2) and (3) reconstructing a 2D or 3D image field of the heart to be examined.
