A new family of ordered mesoporous silica materials denoted COK-10 issynthesized under mildly acidic orneutral pH conditions using a combination of an amphiphilic block copolymerand optionally a tetraalkylammonium compound. Themesopore size is substantially uniform, is in the range 4-30 nm, and can befine-tuned by adapting the synthesis conditions. A newfamily of 2D-hexagonal ordered mesoporous silica materials denoted COK-12 issynthesized also under mildly acidic or neutralpH conditions using a combination of an amphiphilic block copolymer and abuffer with a pH greater than 2 and less than 8. Themesopore size is substantially uniform, is in the range of 4 to 12 nm and canbe fine-tuned by adapting the synthesis conditions.These ordered mesoporous silica materials are useful as carrier materials forthe formulation of poorly soluble drug molecules andfor oral drug formulations for immediate release applications.
