The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and a food composition for preventing or treating fatty liver disease comprising a PHF20 (PHD finger protein 20) inhibitor. The PHF20 inhibitor of the present invention inhibits the activation of the SREBP1c promoter by PHF20, thereby achieving the inhibition of SREBP1c involved in the fat synthesis mechanism, and thus can be usefully used as pharmaceuticals and foods for preventing or treating fatty liver disease by inhibiting fat synthesis and accumulation in the liver.본 발명은 PHF 20 (PHD finger protein 20) 억제제를 포함하는 지방간 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 및 식품 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 PHF20 억제제는 PHF20 에 의한 SREBP1c 프로모터 활성화를 억제함으로써, 지방 합성 기전에 관여하는 SREBP1c 의 억제를 달성할 수 있고, 이를 통해 간에서의 지방 합성 및 축적을 억제하여 지방간의 예방 또는 치료용 약학, 식품으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
