PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a simultaneous system and a frame sequential system to change over between them, and to acquire a static image having small blurring.SOLUTION: An endoscope system changes over an illumination system of a light source device between a simultaneous system and a frame sequential system according to input of a freeze instruction signal for freezing a moving image to perform static image display. In the simultaneous system, the endoscope system makes a plurality of colors of illumination light be simultaneously radiated. In the frame sequential system, the endoscope system makes the plurality of colors of illumination light be radiated in time-sharing. The endoscope system calculates a first blurring amount from respective pieces of image data of a first image data group generated after the changeover of the illumination system, and calculates a second blurring amount from respective pieces of image data of a second image data group generated before the changeover of the illumination system.
