Three types of dihydrate B-type, C-type, D-type and monohydrate E-type of methylthioninium chloride are described in the present application. Forms B, C, D and E can be prepared from methylthioninium chloride having a higher moisture content or under controlled humidity and temperature from conversion of the hydrate.
