Various embodiments of a method of treating fibrous soft tissue are provided. The method comprises the steps of: targeting a damaged fibrous soft tissue present at or near an injury location, directing therapeutic ultrasound energy to the damaged fibrous soft tissue, and at an elevated temperature of the damaged fibrous soft tissue. Generating a conformal region and generating at least one thermally induced biological effect on the damaged fibrous soft tissue.
