The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating brain injury, comprising an osteopontin protein fragment as an active ingredient, wherein the peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 of the present invention reduces cerebral ischemia volume in a MCAO rat model. By improving the motor function impairment and neurological defects, and by inhibiting the LPS-induced inflammatory response in microglia, it can be usefully used as a composition for preventing, treating or improving brain injury.본 발명은 오스테오폰틴 단백질 단편을 유효성분으로 함유하는 뇌손상 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 서열번호 1로 기재되는 아미노산 서열로 구성되는 펩타이드는 MCAO 랫드 모델에서 뇌허혈 부피를 감소시키고, 운동기능 손상 및 신경학적 결손을 개선시키며, 미세아교세포에서 LPS로 유도한 염증반응을 억제함으로써, 뇌손상 예방, 치료 또는 개선용 조성물로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
