630,471. Hedge-cutters. COOPER, A. T, Nov. 17; 1947, No. 30491. [Class 6(ii)] [Also in Group XIV] A power- or handoperated device for cutting vegetation comprises two relatively movable members each of which carries blades formed with two cutting edges relatively located in two sides of a scalene triangle and subtending acute and obtruse angles respectively. As shown blades 7, 8 are mounted on the member 1 by resilient members 9, 10 which urge the blades into independent co-operation with the blades 15 mounted on the member 2. The blades are differently spaced on the two members and arranged so that cutting is effected between only one blade of each member at a time. The blades are secured to the resilient members and to the member 2 by nut and screw connections 11 and 16 so that the blades are easily removable for sharpening or replacement. In modifications the blades 15 may be integral with the member 2 or may fit into slots in that member.
