The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating kidney diseases, which comprises Shen-Kang known as a Chinese classical medicinal herb as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, Shen-Kang reduces progress of glomerulus lesions, decreases the concentrations of Scr and BUN in blood to improve the functions of kidney, shows a protection effect against apoptosis causes by oxidative stress, reduces intracellular oxidative stress, and particularly inhibits EPK and p38 MAPK signaling paths to provide a protection effect against apoptosis caused by oxidative stress.
