A mask system for a patient, the mask system comprising: a first cushion module, wherein the first cushion module comprises: - a first cushion of a first material, wherein the first cushion is adapted to in use form a seal with the patient&rsquos face, and - a frame 1140 of a second material, said, second material being a more rigid material than said first material, wherein the frame 1140 at least partially defines a breathing chamber or cavity to receive the patient&rsquos nose and mouth and provide air communication to the patient, and the frame 1140 having a frame-opening to facilitate the supply of pressurized breathable gas to the patient via the breathing chamber or cavity, and wherein the frame comprises a collar 1149 surrounding the frame-opening and a shroud module 1120 including a plurality of fingers 1145(1) extending from a shroud opening of the shroud module 1120 and which are configured to in use engage with the collar 1149 of the frame 1140 in a snap fit to thereby releasably attach the frame 1140 and the shroud module 1120 together.
