It is an object of the present invention to provide a lactic acid bacterium having oxalic acid-decomposing activity which is several times higher than conventionally known lactic acid bacteria having oxalic acid-decomposing activity, and its use. In order to solve the above problems, the present inventors conducted intensive studies and found that lactic acid bacteria capable of degrading oxalic acid in a large amount were screened from 132 strains of Lactobacillus sp. Lactic acid bacteria independently isolated from feces and stomach fluids of human adults. As a result, Lactic acid bacteria characterized in that the decomposition rate of oxalic acid is 50% or more in a culture medium containing 10 mM oxalic acid at 37 DEG C and at pH 6.5 for 72 hours at the start of cultivation for 72 hours.본 발명은 종래 알려져 있는 옥살산 분해활성을 갖는 유산균보다도 수배 높은 옥살산 분해활성을 갖는 유산균 및 그 용도를 제공하는 것을 과제로 한다. 상기 과제를 해결하기 위해 본 발명자들은 예의 연구한 결과, 인간 성인의 분변 및 위액으로부터 독자적으로 분리한 락토바실러스(Lactobacillus)속 유산균 132균주로부터, 옥살산을 대량으로 분해 가능한 유산균을 스크리닝하고, 그 결과, 10 mM 옥살산을 포함하는 배양액 중에서, 37℃, 배양 개시시 pH 6.5, 72시간 배양에 있어서, 옥살산 분해율이 50% 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 유산균을 발견하고, 본 발명을 완성하였다.
