Die Erfindung betrifft ein medizinisches Instrumentarium mit einem Navigationssystem, das eine eine Kamera aufweisende optische Erfassungseinheit aufweist und eine mit dieser gekoppelte Datenverarbeitungseinheit, mit einem medizintechnischen Artikel sowie einer Markiereinrichtung, welche direkt oder indirekt am Artikel gehalten und in definierter räumlicher Anordnung zu diesem positioniert ist, oder welche Markiereinrichtung vom Artikel umfasst oder gebildet ist, wobei mit dem Navigationssystem die Lage und Orientierung der Markiereinrichtung ermittelbar ist, wobei mittels der Erfassungseinheit mindestens eine Aufnahme der Markiereinrichtung und des Artikels erstellbar ist und die Position und Form des Artikels von der Datenverarbeitungseinheit anhand einer Aufnahme ermittelbar ist.
