PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing apparatus capable of submitting pulmonary arteries and veins running in a specific pulmonary segment to a physician by identifying the pulmonary arteries and veins without determination of the physician.
SOLUTION: A pulmonary segment identification part 16 extracts a lung part region, and blood vessels in the extracted lung part region are extracted by a blood vessel processing part 17 and are divided into a plurality of parts. A control part 23 determines the kind of a display state of each blood vessel part region from a positional relationship between a boundary of the extracted lung part region and the blood vessel part region divided by the blood vessel processing part 17. Then, a projection image in a display form which is different in each region is generated by a display image generating part 21 from the determined result, and the generated projection image is displayed in a display part 22.
