An airway device features an airway tube 12, with an end with a laryngeal cuff 20 and an intubating ramp 22. In use the device is placed into the throat of a patient, the laryngeal cuff 20 shaped to offer an open air channel to the larynx and trachea, whilst blocking off the oesophagus. The ramp 22, may encourage a subsequently introduced air tube towards the entry of the larynx and trachea, and away from the oesophagus, overcoming such a tendency in prior items. Also disclosed is an airway device with an airway tube 12 with an end with a laryngeal cuff 20, and an airway tube 12 which has a wider diameter than the rest of the airway tube, such as around a flattened area 24. This may have a similar directing effect as the first item described.
