Disclosed is a novel combination therapy to reduce or prevent the acquisition of a conditioned response in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal a therapeutically effective amount of an aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH-2) inhibitor compound, such as a compound of Formula (I), in combination with a substance that produces the conditioned response, such as a medication containing a dopamine-producing agent such as an opioid, whereby the combination acts to reduce or prevent the acquisition of a conditioned response, and the deleterious side-effect of misuse, dependence, abuse, and/or addiction.La présente invention concerne une nouvelle polythérapie pour réduire ou prévenir l'acquisition d'une réponse conditionnée chez un mammifère, comprenant l'administration au mammifère d'une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un composé inhibiteur d'aldéhyde déshydrogénase (ALDH-2), tel qu'un composé de formule (I), en combinaison avec une substance qui produit la réponse conditionnée, telle qu'un médicament contenant un agent de production de dopamine tel qu'un opioïde, de sorte que la combinaison agisse de façon à réduire ou prévenir l'acquisition d'une réponse conditionnée, et l'effet secondaire délétère de l'usage abusif, la dépendance, l'abus et/ou la dépendance.
