PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processor device for an endoscope capable of accurately acquiring an observation distance, and to provide an operation method and a control program.SOLUTION: An endoscope system 10 includes an endoscope 12, a light source device 14, and a processor device 16. The endoscope 12 including an imaging sensor 46 images an object to be observed and outputs an image signal. The light source device 14 emits illumination light for illuminating the object to be observed. The processor device 16 includes a measurement image processing part 64. The measurement image processing part 64 includes a vascular index value calculation part 72 and an observation distance calculation part 74. The vascular index value calculation part 72 finds a vascular index value based on the image signal from the endoscope 12.
