PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to manufacture a highly accurate face gear regardless of a hardness of a material at low cost.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the face gear 16 of a spinning reel is the method for manufacturing the face gear 16 rotating interlocking with a handle of the spinning reel. The method for manufacturing the face gear 16 includes a step S1 of an electrode forming step and a step S2 of a gear teeth forming step. In the electrode forming step, a formed electrode 42 having a shape capable of forming the teeth 16 of the face gear 16 is formed.
