A device for acquiring and stapling multiple tissues regions within asubject's stomach, by introducing the devicetransorally into the stomach, is disclosed. The device includes a multi-firestaple head designed for reciprocal motion along anaxis between a compact condition in which the head can be inserted into thestomach transorally and an expanded tissue-acquisitioncondition, a shaft to which the head is attached and by which the head in itscompact condition can he introduced transorallyinto the stomach, and a tissue-acquisition device for acquiring tissue withinthe stomach. Also disclosed is a method for acquiringand stapling multiple tissues regions within a patient's stomach, a multi-firestapler device that indexes different rows of staples,and a multi-first stapler device that with multiple staple cartridges.
