Infant mattresses include a core and a cover. The core is made of an elastic material and has a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface is inclined with respect to the bottom surface and includes a recess. The cover includes a mesh-like material covering the core and forming a sloped hammock on the recess. The infant''s head and torso are placed on the hammock. One or more side walls of the recess may have one or more openings that facilitate air circulation within the recess cavity. The outer end of the opening may be connected to an air or aerosol source for injecting air or aerosol into the cavity.
