PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new skin-beautifying method, and to provide an evaluation method of a substance having skin-beautifying effect.SOLUTION: This invention relates to: skin-beautifying method that includes inhibiting activities of heparanase existing in the skin and an evaluation method of a skin-beautifying effect of a subject substance, which includes bringing the subject substance into contact with a skin, a skin tissue or cells of a human or an animal, measuring enzyme activities of heparanase in the skin, and evaluating skin-beautifying effects of the subject substance using the changes in the enzyme activities of heparanase as an index.
