Needle assembly comprising: a non-metallic base portion comprising a wall having a channel, a channel length, a channel diameter, a proximal facing surface and a distally facing surface; the first shoulder containing the first free end and the second shoulder containing the second free end extending essentially axially in the distal direction from the base portion, the first free end extending beyond the second free end and containing an inclined end section containing the first lateral a face, a second side face, a length and a width that extends toward the second shoulder; an open area or an open space or a space holding a needle tip formed at least partially by a base portion, not the shoulder, the second shoulder and the inclined end section; a needle having a tip and a diameter; in which the first shoulder and the second shoulder are pressed so as to move between the ready position in which the inclined end section abuts the needle and the protected position in which the tip of the needle enclosed within an open area or open space or space holding the tip of a needle; and wherein the length and width of the inclined distal end section is greater than the diameter of the needle, and interacts with the channel length and the diameter of the channel to enclose the tip of the needle within an open area, open space or space holding the tip of the needle. 2.
