Thermoplastic article for orthopaedic application has a substrate comprising a 47 to 95 wt% of a thermoplastic polymer and 5 to 30 wt% of a wax, wherein the article is plastic at a temperature of 40-60°C. The thermoplastic polymer may comprise ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and the wax may be paraffin wax. The substrate may be coated with a polyurethane and/or polyethylene. The coating may a film laminated onto at least one surface of the substrate. A heating unit may be embedded within the substrate. The heating unit may be formed by 3D printing. Also claimed is a method of making the article, preferably using 3D printing and the use of article in orthotics, bone or muscle healing and prosthetics. The orthotics may be a Spica cast, Ponsetti cast, splints or ankle-foot orthotics. Also claimed is a computer readable medium for generating instructions for a 3D printer in order for the printer to construct the article.
