Disclosed herein is a pharmaceutical composition for use in treating a depression, wherein said composition consists of one of a first group of the following compositions of raw materials, comprising: · 4-18 parts by weight of a ginseng and 3-14 parts by weight of a liquorice； · A ginseng extract extracted from 4-18 parts by weight of a ginseng and a liquorice water extract or a liquorice ethanol extract extracted from 3-14parts by weight of a liquorice； · 4-18 parts by weight of a ginseng and a liquorice water extract or the liquorice ethanol extract extracted from 3-14 parts by weight of a liquorice； or · A ginseng water extract or the ginseng ethanol extract extracted from 4-18 parts by weight of a ginseng and 3-14 parts by weight of a liquorice； and One of a second group, comprising · 3-14 parts by weight of a jujuba； or · A jujuba extract or a jujuba ethanol extract extracted from 3-14 parts by weight of the jujuba. Also disclosed is a method for preparing said composition above.
