The method involves providing an endoscope head (12) and an optical tube (16). A proximal end region (18) of the optical tube is inserted into a distal end region (20) of the endoscope head. The distal end region of the endoscope head is press-fitted with the proximal end region of the tube. An axial force is exerted on the proximal end region of the optical tube in a direction of a distal end region of the tube. An independent claim is also included for an endoscope comprising an endoscope head and an optical tube.
