PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of reconstructing a high-quality image even when the movement of a subject is mixed in a part of MRI data. A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a collecting unit, a reconstructing unit, and a selection unit. The collecting unit collects magnetic resonance imaging data of the subject. The reconstruction unit generates a plurality of subsets in which at least one encoding is excluded from the plurality of encodings included in the data set 205 of the magnetic resonance imaging data by changing the encoding to be excluded, and uses each subset as the first compressed sensing method. Multiple images are reconstructed by using to generate an image. The selection unit selects a first image having the best image quality from a plurality of images, and selects a first subset used for generating the first image.
