PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound and a method associated with differential methylation of human papilloma virus genomes in epithelial cells.SOLUTION: The invention relates to compounds and methods useful in detection and therapy of HPV-associated diseases. The invention is based on the elucidation of a mechanism by which replication of HPVs occurs in naturally infected tissues and cells. Moreover it is based on the identification of distinct epigenetic changes of the viral genome in infected cells that allows promotion of the affected cells to precancerous and cancerous cells. The invention therefore provides methods of diagnosing neoplasias and their precursor lesions as well as methods of preventing the development of malignancies or inhibiting tumor growth.【課題】上皮細胞におけるヒトパピローマウイルスゲノムの特異的なメチル化に関連する化合物および方法の提供。【解決手段】本発明は、ＨＰＶ関連疾患の検出及び治療に有用な化合物及び方法に関する。本発明は、ＨＰＶの複製が自然感染した組織及び細胞において生じるメカニズムを解明したことに基づいている。さらに、本発明は、ウイルス感染細胞における、この病的細胞の前癌及び癌細胞への成長の促進を可能にするウイルスゲノムの異なる後成的変化を確認したことに基づくものである。従って、本発明は、新形成及びその前駆病変を診断する方法並びに悪性腫瘍の発症を予防し、又は腫瘍増殖を抑制する方法を提供する。【選択図】なし
