A neck traction device comprising at least one head contact member and biasing means connected to the at least one head contact member, wherein the biasing means comprises a resilient material that, when in use, provides a traction force on the users neck via the at least one head contact member. The device is contoured to accommodate the users head. The device may have an integral structure, such as a pillow or foam body 12 with neck recesses 14, 18, where deforming or folding the device creates the traction force. Alternatively there may be a body portion connected to the biasing means (see e.g. figure 13). The biasing means may be a spring, or an insert that can be inserted into a pocket on the body. The biasing means may be adjustable by the removal or addition of biasing means. There may be a shoulder contact portion and thoracic vertebrae contact portion. The device may be able to be locked in a deformed state, for example using hook and loop fasteners.
