A phantom is positioned at preset angle relative to x-ray detectors imaging plane. The phantoms slice images are generated by performing tomosynthesis acquisition using three-dimensional reconstruction algorithms. The in-plane resolution and slice thickness are calculated using modulation transfer function (MTF) algorithm using co-ordinates of sharpest edge having in-focus phantom region identified in a slice image. An independent claim is also included for tomosynthesis image quality control apparatus.
