PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently confirm the photographed image of the eyeground. SOLUTION: The luminous flux emitted from a photographing light source 17 reaches the eyeground Er of an eye E to be examined through the same light path as observation light and the image of the eyeground is guided to an image pickup camera 14 in the same way. The image data from the image pickup camera 14 is stored in a frame memory 20. Further, the signal from a left and right eye detection switch 23 is also stored in a control processing part 21. The control processing part 21 judges the photographing direction of the eye E to be examined from left and right data to calculate the magnifying position in the image stored in the frame memory 20 to perform magnification processing and an image obtained by synthesizing the whole image and the magnified image is displayed on a monitor 22. The whole image is fitted so that a display size is matched with the resolving power of the monitor 22. That is, when the photographed data is larger in size, contraction processing is performed and, contrarily, when the image data is smaller, magnification processing is performed.
