Disclosed is a portable wood smoker for smoking a food item. The smokerincludes a receptacle and at least one heating element. The receptacleincludes an innerspace and at least one opening member for providing access to the inner space.The innerspace of the receptacle is configured to accommodate wood material. The woodmaterialis heated using the at least one heating element to realise smoke to the fooditem or isused for generating smoky aroma in rooms or in closed spaces. Each heatingelementincludes a heating portion and the heating portion is configured to beremovablypositioned in the inner space of the receptacle. The heating portion isconfigured to heatthe wood material when the heating element is electrically powered. The smokeralsoincludes a control instrument which is electrically coupled with the heatingelement forcontrolling a temperature of the heating element.
