A method, such as in a controller associated with a respiratory therapy device, determines whether high flow therapy is being used by a patient. The method may include determining whether a property of a flow of air being delivered by a respiratory therapy device along an air circuit to an unsealed patient interface contains a significant oscillation within a breathing rate frequency band. The method may also include generating, dependent on the determination, an indication of whether high flow therapy is being used by the patient.Linvention concerne un procédé, par exemple dans un système de commande associé à un dispositif de traitement respiratoire, qui détermine si un patient est en train dutiliser ou non une thérapie à haut débit. Le procédé peut consister à déterminer si une propriété dun débit de lair envoyé par un dispositif de traitement respiratoire dans un circuit respiratoire vers une interface patient non hermétique contient ou non une oscillation significative au sein dune bande de fréquence de vitesse de respiration. Le procédé peut également consister à générer, en fonction de ladite détermination, une indication signalant si oui ou non le patient est en train dutiliser la thérapie à haut débit.
