The present invention provides compositions and methods of glass composites suitable for tissue augmentation, biomedical and cosmetic applications. The free microsphere component of the complex is biologically inert, non-reactive, and acts as a nearly permanent tissue filler. One embodiment provides a tissue-reinforced composite comprising solid glass microspheres, porous wall hollow glass microspheres, or a combination thereof, together with a suitable biocompatibility matrix that acts as a bulking agent when injected into a patient.
