The plant pot is formed from a sleeve ring (3) made of organic fibre matting (1) having, in its inner lower area, a circumferential base support on which the base (4) can be placed. The overlapping areas (11) of the ring sleeve are strengthened by stitched seams (12). The mat can be rectangular and bent into a ring sleeve tapering conically downwards. A cord can be placed against the wall in the ring sleeve in the lower conical area and stitched into the seam (7). The ring sleeve can be bent round at the lower conical area inwards to form a bead (8) whose turned-in edge can be stitched to the sleeve wall.
