ABSTRACT - 603545 Disclosed herein is a microencapsulation process for preparation of taste masked dry syrup composition of ciprofloxacin comprising ciprofloxacin taste masked granules along with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient, wherein the process comprises the steps of: (a) granulating the ciprofloxacin base micro-particles with granulating agents selected from Eudragit EPO (methacrylate co-polymer), HPMC, HPC and combinations thereof; (b) coating the granules of step (a) with the coating solution of methacrylate co-polymer in solvent selected from isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, methylene chloride, water and combinations thereof to obtain taste masked ciprofloxacin granules; (c) mixing taste masked ciprofloxacin granules of step (b) with suspending agent, sweeteners, flavour, glidant, lubricant and buffering agent to obtain dry syrup and (d) packing the dry syrup of step (c) into single dose sachet or multiple dose container, wherein preferably ciprofloxacin base is incorporated in an amount of 250 mg.
