The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating bone diseases containing a Gentiana lutea extract as an active component. In an embodiment of the present invention, the Gentiana lutea extract inhibits the differentiation of mononuclear cells isolated from mouse hematopoietic stem cells into osteoclasts, and exhibits an effect of inhibiting the expression of osteoarthritis-inducing factor in an osteoarthritis cell model. Therefore, the Gentiana lutea extract can inhibit bone absorption, which destroys bones, thereby being able to effectively prevent, alleviate or treat osteoporosis. In addition, the Gentiana lutea extract can inhibit the expression of osteoarthritis-inducing factors, thereby being able to effectively prevent, alleviate or treat osteoarthritis.본 발명은 겐티아나 루테아 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 골 질환 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 일 실시예에서, 겐티아나 루테아 추출물이 마우스 조혈모세포에서 분리된 단핵세포의 파골세포로의 분화를 억제하였고, 골관절염 세포 모델에서 골관절염 유발인자의 발현을 억제하는 효과를 나타낸 바, 다양한 골 질환 중에서도 뼈를 파괴하는 골 흡수를 억제할 수 있으므로 골다공증을 효과적으로 예방, 개선, 내지 치료할 수 있으며, 또한 골관절염 유발인자의 발현을 억제할 수 있으므로 골 관절염을 효과적으로 예방, 개선 내지 치료할 수 있다.
