PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject information acquisition device which makes a probe scan a subject held by a holding member, and can suppress multiple reflection generated between an element surface of the probe and the holding member.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device comprises: a holding member 002 having a curvature for holding a subject a probe 003 having an element surface in which a plurality of conversion elements for receiving an acoustic wave transmitted from the subject and outputting electric signals are aligned a drive mechanism 008 for making the probe scan in a scanning area of a scanning surface facing the holding member and information processing means 011 for acquiring characteristic information of the subject interior by using the electric signals.
