Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an embolic filter system. Embolic filter systems generally include a filter and an elongate element. In some examples, the elongate element extends to a position distal to the proximal end of the filter and operates to protect against medical devices that become entangled with the filter. In some instances, the elongate element is flexible and compliant and provides a hemostatic seal within the lumen of the elongate element while maintaining the lumen as a working lumen that can be passed through the medical device.
