PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject terrarium capable of readily confirming whether or not the temperature environment is suitable for the growth of ornamental plants arranged in the interior thereof and further increasing the decorative value by forming a specific film on the wall surface of a container. SOLUTION: This terrarium comprises an ornamental plant 5 arranged in the interior of a container 1 and is obtained by forming a film 7 containing a temperature indicating coloring material in at least a part of the wall surface of the container 1. At this time, the material of the container 1 may have a strength so as to scarcely cause the deformation and glass, pottery, a synthetic resin, etc., can be used. At least a part of the container wall surface is required to have transparency so that the ornamental plant 5 in the interior of the container 1 readily receive light. The glass or the synthetic resin such as transparent polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride can be used for that purpose. A liquid crystal composition such as a cholesteric compound, an iodide of a heavy metal such as mercury or complex salts thereof or further organic reversible temperature indicating coloring materials, etc., are cited as specific examples of the temperature indicating coloring material.
