The present invention provides an absorbent wound dressing assembly that can be used to hemostasis, seal, or stabilize areas of tissue damage, tissue trauma, or tissue passageways. The wound dressing assembly is flexible and can be adapted to fit narrow and small wound sites. Generally, the wound dressing assembly comprises a flexible carrier material impregnated with a non-mammalian material to control severe bleeding.
