PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice husk coal or rice straw coal including an abundance of amorphous silica which includes an abundance of water-soluble amorphous silica but includes no carcinogenic substances； a method for manufacturing a rice husk coal or rice straw coal including an abundance of amorphous silica； and a food, an agricultural fertilizer, and a fodder each including an abundance of amorphous silica.SOLUTION: The provided rice husk coal or rice straw coal including an abundance of amorphous silica is obtained by carbonizing rice husks or rice straws within an oxygen-free atmosphere by using a carbonizing apparatus for executing carbonization in an agitated state, whereas the rice husk coal or rice straw coal is obtained by confining, to 500°C to 700°C, the temperature range for carbonizing the rice husks or rice straws within the carbonizing apparatus. Moreover, a method for manufacturing amorphous silica wherein the rice husk coal or rice straw coal is agitated within a body of ion-exchanged water within a range of 30 to 100°C so as to dissolve and extract, into and with the ion-exchanged water, amorphous silica included within the rice husk coal or rice straw coal is also provided.【課題】水溶性の非晶質シリカを豊富に含み、かつ発がん性物質を含まない非晶質シリカを豊富に含むもみ殻炭あるいは稲わら炭、及び非晶質シリカ豊富に含むもみ殻炭あるいは稲わら炭の製造方法、並びに非晶質シリカを豊富に含む食品、農業用肥料および飼料の提供。【解決手段】もみ殻あるいは稲わらが、無酸素雰囲気中にて、撹拌しながら炭化される炭化装置によって炭化された、非晶質シリカを豊富に含むもみ殻炭あるいは稲わら炭であって、前記炭化装置にて、もみ殻あるいは稲わらを炭化する温度範囲は、５００℃～７００℃であるもみ殻炭あるいは稲わら炭とする。更に前記もみ殻炭あるいは稲わら炭を３０～１００℃の範囲にのイオン交換水にて撹拌して、前記もみ殻炭あるいは稲わら炭に含まれる非晶質シリカをイオン交換水に溶かして抽出することを特徴とする非晶質シリカの製造方法。【選択図】図１
