The present invention relates to a novel 2,4-diaryl-indenopyridine derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, a preparation method thereof, and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same as an active component for preventing and treating a cancer. According to the present invention, the novel 2,4-diaryl-indenopyridine derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof significantly suppresses activity of TOPO-I and TOPO-II which are topoisomerases, and exhibits high cytotoxicity to various human cancer cells, thereby being useful as a drug to prevent and treat cancers.
