The present invention provides a composition for preventing, alleviating or treating hearing loss containing a Syzygium cumini extract. The composition according to the present invention effectively prevents a rise of hearing threshold and damage to hair cells due to hearing loss, thereby being able to inhibit hearing loss. Therefore, the composition can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food since it is useful for preventing or treating hearing loss.본 발명은 시지지움 큐미니 (Syzygium cumini) 추출물을 포함하는 난청의 예방, 개선 또는 치료용 조성물을 제공한다. 본 발명에 따른 조성물은 난청으로 인한 청력 역치의 상승과 유모세포 손상을 효과적으로 억제시킴으로써 난청을 억제할 수 있어 난청의 예방 또는 치료에 유용하여, 약학 조성물 또는 건강기능식품으로써 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
