Visual and functional visual inspections are performed at various brightness levels. The first course may be selected for the subject. The predetermined course comprises a layout comprising a starting point, at least one turn, at least one obstacle and an end point. The first course is illuminated at a first luminance level based on an estimated low light sensitivity cut-off. The subject may be instructed to perform the first walk of the examination. The inspection includes proceeding from the start point to the end point by turning the layout of the first course around at least one corner to avoid at least one obstacle.
