An electronic device (50, fig. 4) has a male connection portion 38 for detachably connecting the device to a female snap. The male connector 38 comprises an electrically conductive stud 38 including a head for fitting in the snap socket. The head includes a cavity 42 for receiving a guiding pin 22 of the female snap and/or for receiving a tool for screwing the stud into the housing of the electronic device via threading on the stud. The stud makes an electrical connection between a conductive portion of the female popper and an electronic component 76 within the electronic device. The electronic device may be a heart rate monitor transmitter, where the male connection pin 38 detachably connects the transmitter housing to a low-profile female snap integrated into a material 18. E.g. the popper fastening may provide mechanical and electrical connection between an electrode 24 on a belt/garment and HR transmitter.
