PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a conventional absorbent resin that gel obtained by using the absorbent resin does not necessarily have sufficient long-term stability under irradiation with light (e.g. sun rays).
SOLUTION: The absorbent resin (C) for deodorization and/or a fragrance comprises a crosslinked polymer (A) having a water-soluble vinyl monomer (a1) and/or a vinyl monomer (a2) that turns into (a1) by hydrolysis, and an internal crosslinking agent (b) as essential structural units, and satisfies the following requirements (1) and (2). (1) The total content of (a1), (a2) and (b) not polymerized in the absorbent resin (C) is from 10 to 200 ppm with respect to the weight of (C) and (2) the gel strength (GS1) of gel (G1) obtained by swelling the absorbent resin (C) with ion-exchanged water by 50 times is from 3.0 to 8.0 kN/m
