A system (10) for drawing blood from a heart (14) of a patient, includes a blood pump (16), an outflow cannula (248) and a flexible cannula assembly (12). The cannula assembly (12) further includes a flexible cannula body (26) including a proximal end (30), a distal end (32), an inner wall defining a lumen (34), and an outer wall. A tip (28) is coupled with the distal end (32) of the cannula body (26), and an anchor (38 and/or 40) is coupled to the tip (28). The anchor (38, 40) is configured to engage an internal structure (158) of the heart (14) and resists movement of the cannula assembly (12) in at least one direction along the flexible cannula body (26). A ring member (180) is configured to be coupled to the heart wall (154) and is positioned at least partially around the outer wall of the cannula body (26) proximally relative to the tip (28).
