PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tea-based beverage which does not immediately cause discoloration even in case that it is packed in a thin container (bottle) while having taste and flavor as tea.SOLUTION: This is a beverage containing nonpolymeric catechin and tea aroma ingredients, wherein either the content of tannin measured by tartaric acid iron absorptiometry is less than 30 mg/100 ml and the amount of tea aroma ingredients A is not less than 80, or the ratio ( the content of tannin/A) of the amount A of tea aroma ingredients to the content (mg/ml) of tannin measured by tartaric acid iron absorptiometry is not less than 3. But, the amount A of tea aroma ingredients is a value which is obtained by expression (1): A=S/S, where the total of the gross peak areas and the peak area of an internal standard substance are Sand S, respectively, in GC-FID chromatogram, as to gas ingredients which are discharged for 30 minutes out of a sample 50 g that is kept at 35°C after adding the internal standard substance so that it may be 1.0 mass ppb.
